Robert Gordon University wanted to transform a top floor library space into a dynamic “Digital Hub” – a flexible area that could switch between a large classroom and an open study zone. This project came with some big challenges, from bright sunlight to tricky viewing angles and a difficult location.
- Crystal-Clear Views for Everyone: Despite the bright natural light and circular room design, we installed 38 high-brightness, anti-glare screens (including two 98″ displays). This ensured every student, no matter where they sat, had a perfect, clear view of the content.
- Seamless In-Person & Online Collaboration: We set up a sophisticated networked AV system that effortlessly handles all visual content. Students and instructors can easily connect their own devices wirelessly, and the system integrates smoothly with platforms like MS Teams. This means fantastic interaction for everyone, whether they’re in the room or joining remotely.
- Immersive, Consistent Audio: We implemented a smart networked audio system (Dante) and carefully placed loudspeakers for uniform sound coverage. Four wireless microphones ensure multiple presenters can be heard clearly, and a portable wireless mic allows for easy audience participation, even for remote viewers.
- Effortless Control: Despite the extensive technology, we designed a simple, user-friendly control system. Instructors can easily manage all the AV equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient presentations without any technical headaches.
- Overcoming Big Challenges: This was a complex project on the ninth floor, with tight deadlines and tough logistics for moving large equipment. We meticulously planned every detail and collaborated continuously with other contractors to deliver the entire system on time and within budget for the new academic year.
This project at Robert Gordon University shows how we overcome complex challenges to deliver innovative, user focused AV solutions that transform learning and collaboration in multi-purpose educational spaces.
